Personality

The Aloof Say’ri is a wandering soul at heart. Rarely will you find her in a town. If you do catch her, she is probably there to share stories of her adventures and catch up with old friends. A very “My-pace” kind of person. But she’s very willing to talk to anyone about anything and is a really good listener. (Or is zoned out and is pretending to listen.) She’ll listen to any troubles you have and be there should you desire it. Don’t take her easy-going nature for weakness, or you’ll end up with a fist to the face. Not one to be kept in one place for too long, She’ll often sell whatever fish she can catch and use the excess gold for new shoes as they get worn from the traveling she does. This stems from her banishment of her tribe in the Golmore Jungle, as she left her home to sate her unending wanderlust. She holds no resentment of her tribe, as she knew the rules about it.Additionally, She is a fervent believer in the Guardian Deity, Oschon, the Wanderer. She’s very passionate about her worship. Sometimes by a campfire, she’ll pray before hitting the hay, wishing for safe travels and fun times. To insult her God is to incur her wrath, her contempt, and long lasting grudge. She warms just as quickly as she sours in this regard.Note: She has no sense of time. What-so ever.Note: She's a common victim of Lalafell theft.

“My... Isn't life so wonderful? To wake and feel the sun on your skin, to breathe and feel the wind fill your lungs, to look at the horizon and wonder how far it goes.Your kind's lifespan is so fleeting... Why not enjoy the little things?"

History

“One should not let themselves stay unchanged, especially Viera.
What’s the point of living long lives if we just stay in one place?
Mind you, I loved my home. But it was far too small for me.”

Say’ri Valflame originates from the Golmore Forest in Southern Othard and was a member of Rava Clans. She was born to one Mother, Ruuj Muscadet, and her Father, Shara Rehw-Gilda. Back when she was just a kit, she was raised in the community until she was 15 and hit puberty. Even then, according to Viera culture, she wasn’t considered fully an adult until her fifties as becoming an adult to them has a few more periods of Mental maturity.During her earlier years, there was an Explosion near the forest and some Viera had rushed out to check out what the deal with it was. Say’ri accompanied, having readied her bow. It was a monster attack on a merchant caravan. Unfortunately for the merchant, they had died before the Viera Warriors could dispatch the monster. As a result, they took the goods from the wreckage for their own use to not waste them. And Say’ri herself grabbed a book. One that would spark her entire reason for leaving.Inside the book, it held a language she could not understand, written in a script and a parchment completely alien to her own. But what she could understand were the pictures that were detailed inside it. A river that stretched further than the Horizon, a land of golden sands, buildings made of stone that floated in the sky, and people and creatures that were completely different and unique looking to her. She had heard of outsiders, but had not expected the world and people outside her forest to look completely different compared to her. She had a love for her clan and the people here but the more she read the book and also could not understand it, her desire to explore grew more and more until her coming of age at 50 when she could not hold back.On the day before her 50th Moon, she had spent it practicing with her bow and strengthening herself for battle as she heard the world outside was a dangerous place with unknown. But to her, it only furthered her wanderlust. The elders had all told her that if she left, she would not be allowed to return, and had all gotten angry at her attempts to leave before adulthood. And there were many. So she had given up and proceeded to fall in line with the teachings of the elders, who all were happy this rambunctious kit wished to leave so much. For 3 months, she lay quiet, doing her chores, practicing with her Bow and kicking techniques and was ready to meet with the others for potential partners in furthering the bloodline. But unbeknownst to them, for the 3 whole months, she had analyzed every one of the guard's nighttime patrol cycles, who was more prone to sleep, and what routes they all took. And when her 50th Nameday had come, and they all came to congratulate her, the only thing that was left was a parchment detailing how she escaped and that she’d never see them again, leaving them only her new Chosen name as was tradition with Viera’s who leave their home, Say’ri Valflame. And while they could have either forgotten it all or been angry to go in search of her, it was already too late. As she had begun her adventure and wandering of Eorzea for the next 61 years.

“So long as the winds blow, you cannot keep me! I shall prevail one day!”

"I love to fish. It's just so calming and meditative. There's nothing like grabbing a big catch after hours of waiting! Just... Be careful when you're selling them in Ul'dah. Those Lalafell are super cute until you need to bargain.... By the way, you wouldn't happen to have any change on you, would you?"

Physical

Height: Standing pretty at 6.3 Fulms, 6.9 with her ears, Say’ri towers above the average humes and her sibling Viera in arms.Build: She has a Rock Climber’s Build, slender yet can carry twice her weight. Also due to her DNC/MNK training, she’s quick as the winds.Hair: Long Burgundy hair in a Shag with Fringe and a ponytail in the back. She has bright Fiery Red highlights towards the tips of her hair.Eyes: She has Droopy Hooded Eyes, that have a beautiful Emerald Glean3 sizes: “None of your business, Sweetheart.~”Common Accessories: Say'ri is rarely seen without a freshly picked flower in her hair. The type of flower varies depending on where she's travelling at the time, but they're all usually red and pink to match her hair.

Mhm… Uh-huh… Yes... No, I'm listening!Oh! Wait— Was that a Lalafell holding a bunch of food? I wonder if they have baked popotoes... I’ll be right back.~”

“Morning! It's a lovely day out today... Hm? My plans? Nothing special.I'm going to climb... That mountain.” She points to the distance."Where else am I going to be able to send my prayers to the winds?"

Distinguishing Features: Valflame’s Hair is never not in a Ponytail unless she’s sleeping. It was a more traditional Viera hairstyle to let the hair grow out long, but she never takes care of it and leaves it in a Ponytail.Additionally she has the Traditional markings of the Tribe under her eyes in a bright reddish-pink colour. These are accented by the cute freckles that dot her face like the night sky after a long voyage.Race: Viera of the Rava Tribe, Banished and never to return unless the world is at end. Which seems to be happening a lot as of recently. This Warrior of Light seems to be helping with that so she’s not too worried.Weapons: Chakrams/Fists - Ms. Valflame is never Unarmed for she is her weapon. Do not underestimate her or else you end up knocked out on the side of the road potentially near some Tonberrys.

“That's the beautiful thing about people, no matter how hard it gets,
no matter how many mistakes or failures...
We will still watch the sun rise in the morning...
And we will still wake from our slumber and try again!"

Hooks

“Mind if I join you? Ah... I did so much fishing today that I think my arms are going to fall off." She settles down next to you, stretching her arms before letting out a satisfied sigh."What did you do today? A long story? Tell me all about it, I'd love to hear it!"

Long time, No see!

(Viera of Rava, exclusive, If you hail from the Golmore Forest.)Say’ri was well known back in the communities of the Golmore Forest to be a serial Escaper. On multiple occasions of trying to leave the forests to explore, and wander the lands as is her soul’s desire. Should you come from there, you may recognize her from way back when.Note: She may not remember your name. So give her a reminder.“Oh yes! I remember! How have the elders been since I’ve been there? How many moons has it been since I left now…. But I wouldn’t change this for the world”

Stories for the books!

Ms. Valflame is a wanderer and is a lover of stories and other peoples adventures. Wishing to write her own Novel of stories of the people of all over, she may ask you to let you know about your adventures in the world.“Oh! A fellow adventurer! Please, allow me to take down your story. How have the winds of time fared you and your exploits.”

Getting lost? I never have to worry about that!Oschon is watching over me, I'm sure he wouldn't lead me somewhere I'm not destined to go. I don't think that's just naivety, I think following the way of the winds is truly the best way to navigate life.”

“It's a wonderful day to get out and bathe in the sun, care to join me? Come on, it's good for you!”

Wanderstricken Acolyte.

Say’ri is a heavy believer and worshiper in the Guardian, Oschon, the Wanderer. Especially considering how well his teaching fits into her beliefs. Before a meal, Before bed, or at the beginning of an Adventure, she prays heartily for his winds to guide her on to the right paths that destiny has set out for her.Ask her about her beliefs to find out how she feels about the Gods, or Insult them and get a swift punch to the throat. Either way, it’s an easy way to grab her attention.“The winds that blow around us are the souls of those who have departed granting us direction to the path towards our destiny. Some decide to go against the winds and find other paths but may end up corrupted or hurt. But the winds still blow.”

Women scare me, Fish want me.

Say’ri is an exceptional fisherman. But she’s a terrible merchant, and is bad at haggling. Especially the mothers who love to haggle at her, driving her to sell even her best fish at a low price leaving her often, dirt poor.Buying her a drink or other stuff is an easy way to endear her to you. But be careful, she may continue to come to you for money should she run low once more.“Alms… Alms… please. Alms…”
“Yes!! New catch! Look at this Alligator Garfish! It must be 3 fulms at least!”
